[ March 21, 2017 ]
JAIPUR: A eatery named Hotel Hyatt Rabbani in Jaipur was sealed over beef cooking rumours.
According to Hindustan Times reports, the incident happened on Sunday evening after a huge crowd of over 100 gathered at the eatery and thrashed the hotel staff alleging beef was cooked.
According to Hindustan Times reports, the incident happened on Sunday evening after a huge crowd of over 100 led by Rashtriya Mahila Gau Rakshak Sewa Mandal activist Sadhvi Kamal ‘Didi’ gathered at the eatery and protested against the hotel alleging beef was served.
In the complaint, the activist alleged that “meat remains” were dumped out in the open.
Based on the complaint filed by Kamal, the police has sealed the eatery and also arrested its owner Nayeem Rabbani and one of its employees.
“Someone spread a rumour that Hotel Hayat Rabbani in Sindhi Camp area in Jaipur was preparing and disposing of beef remains. However, the rumours were baseless and the actual matter is that locals were unhappy over the ‘non-vegetarian’ remains which the hotel threw openly; cows were consuming these remains which angered the locals,” Ashok Kumar Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jaipur (West) told The Indian Express.
“So, after the complaint by (Gau Raksha Dal leader) Kamal Didi, we arrested hotel owner Naeem Rabbani and one of his staff members under section 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code,” Gupta said.
“The hotel was vacated and shut down by the municipal corporation,” he said.
Jaipur deputy mayor Manoj Bhardwaj said, “We have sealed the hotel as they could not produce a licence to operate their restaurant. Second, they were disposing their waste openly and flouting rules.”
