ALLAHABAD: Soon after Yogi Adityanath took charge as UP Chief Minister, the Nagar Nigam authorities sealed two slaughter houses in the city of Allahabad implementing the BJP manifesto.

Closing down of the illegal slaughter houses was the main agendas of the BJP’s manifesto.
The BJP chief Amit Shah had consistently and vociferously announced in several rallies that illegal slaughterhouses will be closed after the formation of the government.
“The next government will shut down all the slaughter houses in UP,” Amit Shah assured while speaking to India Today.
44-year-old Adityanath, who was sworn-in as the 21st Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has promised to work for all sections of the society without any discrimination, pursuing the agenda of ‘sabka sath, sabka vikas’ but it does not seems to prove the same.
Uttar Pradesh has around 130 legal slaughterhouses and the state tops in buffalo meat-producing in India.
Though, the manifesto pitches on closing down of illegal abattoirs, the owners of more than a dozen registered mechanised abattoirs were panic as such a step will cripple investments worth crores and the thousands of people will be left unemployed.
A worried Mohd Imran Yakoob who employs 1,500 people at ‘Al Faheem Meatex’ in Meerut told Economic Times, “The election was first (based) on development but BJP digressed to polarisation and said it will close all slaughterhouses in UP. We only hope it was just an election bayanbazi…how can you close duly registered abattoirs? We deal in buffalo meat, not beef…modern machines have been put by us to improve quality of meat,” Yakood said.
