Prog on disaster mgmt held in Srinagar

Srinagar/March, 15: A workshop on disaster management was held here Wednesday during which Ward Officers and Engineers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation were imparted training on disaster preparedness by Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR).
The program was inaugurated by Commissioner SMC Dr.
Shafqat Khan, in presence of Director Disaster Management Aamir Ali, Joint Commissioner SMC Syed Abul Qasim, Manzoor Ul Haque Khan from World Bank and Secretary SMC Hilal Ahmed.
During the workshop, the participants were sensitized in handling disasters at ward level, besides in providing first aid, fire fighting, search and rescue which is essential in dealing with any kind of eventuality.
On the occasion, a mock drill was also held to evacuate potential targets from high rise buildings. Certificates of participation were issued to the Ward Officers and Engineers of SMC
Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineers, Ward Officers, AEEs, Ward Inspectors and Municipal Officers of SMC, besides a team of SDRF were also present on the occasion.
