Director Agriculture flagged-off farmers
for outside State study tour

Srinagar/11th February, 2016/ The thrust of the Agriculture department is to make the Agriculture re-enumerative by way of decreasing the cost production in agriculture through introduction of modern technology & innovations. This was disclosed by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi while he flagged off a group of 30 farmers of District Srinagar & Ganderbal deputed for study tour outside State under Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture Programme (MIDH) of “Exchange Visit of Farmers” today at TRC Srinagar. The farmers shall be visiting “National Dairy Research Institute Karnal, Indo-Israil Vegetable Project Karnal, Wheat Research Project Karnal, National Extension Institute Nelokhari Karnal & other Progressive Farmers’ fields & Research Institutes. On this occasion Director said that Agriculture Department is working round the clock to motivate the farmers for introduction of latest technology in their farm fields for quality production & better yields. He said in this direction the Department of Agriculture is organizing exposure visit of farmers within & outside the state to acquaint them about latest technology & machinery. He said that tour will provide an opportunity to the farmers to interact with scientists, researchers & progressive farmers to know about new trends in agri-farming. He advised farmers to get them acquainted with modern technology in agriculture & adopt same after their return, so that the production & productivity of different crops will increase.
On this occasion Dy. Director Agriculture Farmers’ Training & Extension Centre Hakim Manzoor Ahmad said that the main objective of organizing such tours is to shift the latest technologies from laboratory to fields, showcase the achievements of progressive farmers among the touring farmers for encouraging them to adopt the latest agriculture technologies, which are being adopting by the farmers of outside state for boosting their agriculture activities, so that farmers after their return shall apply and replicate the same in their fields.
